Expect the BEST

Jun 24, 2019

POSTED IN:

I remember hearing someone once say “expect the worst, you’ll never be disappointed.” My first reaction is to laugh at most things that people say, and I did that with this too…but then I thought about it and, well, that’s not very funny at all. It’s down right depressing! This got me thinking, what do God, science and therapists say on this subject?

And here IS something funny, they ALL agree!

God reminds us in the Bible, to expect HIS best for you. He even goes so far as to have planned your life, so relax– there actually IS a man with a plan! Ha ha ha!

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 40:31 …but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

According to Dr. Caroline Leaf, we actually have the ability to change how we think, it’s called neuroplasticity, it’s not her own discovery, but she’s where I read about it first. It’s really amazing, if we don’t like how we think about something, depending on how we actively choose to think about it from this moment on– CAN be changed. Old painful issues, bad habits, addictions, wrong thought patterns (nothing but bad things happen to me) –it can ALL be changed for the best. I suggest trying her 21 Day Brain Detox online program–it’s amazing.

There’s even quit a bit written on the notion that we attract what we expect, whether it’s good, bad or whatever. You put it out there through your mouth (saying it) or subconsciously (unknowingly expecting it) and here it comes trotting over to you. That creeps me out a bit, I must admit. But used for GOOD, it’s incredible. Start right now, wherever you are and whatever it going on in your life right now. This is the exciting part of being alive. Every morning you get a new chance at this, you get a fresh start, a brand new day with unlimited possibilities. Yesterday’s mistakes and regrets belong to yesterday. Today is a clean slate, an opportunity to start new, to do or become more of the best part of you, the real you– sans all the junk that has happened to you and tried to dim your light. You don’t have to live under that pile of crud any longer. With the knowledge that it is not only safe to proceed, but it’s going to be GOOD– refer back to those scriptures up top–the God of this whole universe put those promises down for you to read right now. Amazing? Yes. For you? Totally.

So, jump into life with both feet! Go forward, head held high, back straight, expecting the BEST you may be surprised at how often that’s EXACTLY what you get.

Huge Hugs,
